Party legal; police describe emergency as huge drain on resources

There was a electronic music festval with lots of people being held at the Symons Valley Ranch. Drugs came in from people and resulting in violence and people needed to be transported to the hospital. About 25 Calagry Police units have to come to the party to break the party up. There where 3 groups of emengcy people, firefighters,EMS,and the Police who responded to the call. There was already security and paramedics on site. When they thought it seemed it was to dangerous they called for back up and the police shut it down.

It was handled well and I think that crazy parties are nothing to go too. It had golbal affect on the world because dj's came from all over the place like the U.S.A and the U.K and they were not able to finsh there evening because the party was shut down. At another time they may not want to come again. It had a affect on the national level because it shows that candians don't alway listen to the rules and it makes us look like druggys. On the regional level Calagry is not very far from Crossfield and if we want to have more type of events we have to watch out for what people bring into parties. It affects the Local level because it is near Crossfield and it could have been worse. Some of the druggys could have came into Crossfield and hurt someone or gived a kid some drugs or worse. Someone from Crossfield could have been killed. I have to say that its parties like these that give Alberta Canada a bad name and makes us look like a bad place to vist.

The Paris Sun

Winds of change: an article challenging different views of the people.By:Becca Heart

This is Becca Heart with the Paris Sun reporting live in Paris with a Clergyman named Gabriel Jenone

So Gabriel, the Clergy Group collectively own about 10-15% of land even though you only make up a very small percentage of the population, and that land is all tax-free do you think that is fair to the commoners of France?

We got to live too. If we give away are land then we would lose are money. We get are money by are land and that is how we live. Without all the land then we well have less money and then are life would change.

Do you want to give some of your land to the people below you and how do you feel about being in a Clergy Group?

No way and I like being in the Clergy Group because I like life the way it is. Why should I worry about the commoners? It’s not my job. This way of life was made before I was even born.

Why don’t you want to give land away?

Because that’s how we make money. Off the land of the commoners because of the rent.

I know you have lots of respotionblies but what are they?

We as a Clergy group have to keep track on registration of births, marriages and deaths; we collected the tithe (usually 10%); we censored books; served as moral police; operated schools and hospitals; and distributed relief to the poor.

Becca here with Tania a member of The Nobility. I’m here to ask her some questions. So Tania How do you collect your money and what do you do with it?

We collect taxes and we own most of the land like 30%. As well as dues on salt, cloth, bread, wine and the use mills, granaries, presses and ovens. We spend the money on fests and food and stuff for ourselves.

What where you doing by the 18th century?

We where becoming involved in banking, finance, shipping, insurance and manufacturing. They were also the leading patrons of the arts.

It is interesting that the nobility would offer their homes and their salons to the likes of Voltaire, Gibbon, Diderot and Rousseau. After all, these were the men who would end up criticizing the Second Estate. Do you have a comment on that?

Well. I have to say that I enjoy the education that we got from the Voltaire, Gibbon, Diderot and Rousseau, but I have a feeling that something bad will happen because of this. One person named Voltaire said to me “ The art of government consists in taking as much money as possible from one class of citizens to give to another.” Comment like these makes me wonder what he is thinking, but the world well never change.

Becca here with Ambre did you know that in English it is spelled Amber? Pretty cool huh. So Amber I mean Ambre here is your first questions so Ambre the peasant how does it feel to be the poorest people and having trouble paying for taxes? I bet it was hard.

Yes it is hard. We sometimes lost our land and we sometimes even lost our husband or son because of them fighting in the army and because the work on the land is so hard that they sometime’s die from it. Our life expectancy is only 40! It’s a hard life and I wouldn’t mind if we had more freedom and freedom of speech too.

How did you feel being in the group of women who wanted to talk to the king because of the bread being too much money for you to buy?

Well Becca. I have to say that I was hungry and angry at the king. I also wanted bread because without bread then I would die hungry. We have children who also too were dying from hungrier. We have hope and a scent of believing that we could convince the king to lower the price.

Well Ambre. One more question and we are done. Ok. How do you feel about the rule of no freedom of speech? Were you angry about that and were you worried about being thrown into jail?

I have to say that I am. It is very scary everyday thinking that if I say the wrong thing I would be living in jail for who knows how long. It’s scary but its life. I do hope it changes soon though. If it does it may make life much easier. I heard people talking about changes in our life and Voltaire saying “Man is free at the moment he wishes to be.”

Do you know what that means?

Not really it’s a new thought. I would like to talk more about it but it seems like it’s saying that the commoners could change our lives. If we start thinking about the way our lives need to change. Change well follows.

Thanks to all of you for your interviews. I do hope that your wishes come true. This has been Becca Heart from the Paris Sun reporting from Paris.

Current Eventshttp://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/09/24/philippines-father-abuse-sentence-rape-daughter.html?ref=rssA father is sent to 40 years in jail because of raping his daughter more then once in Manila. His daughter was 13 when it happened and is now 22. The rapping started on January 2001. The file started when she went to visit her other family and told them this. Her mother was away in Hon Kong when this was happening. When she heard about what their father was doing. She came right back and started to make a file for court about this. The Philippine court had declined that he would go to 40 years in jail last Friday. I chose this aritice because it reminded me of some other teenagers in Calgary that got raped every day and it just sickens me. I think that people who do this are just sick and wrong. Why would someone want to do this? Why don't they just get a doll or something than risking someone else life for their own benefit. Its stupid how some people just go way to far and that people love doing this. Good luck in jail buddy. You will need it. I think that people who rape people should just get killed by law or something because once his jail time is over he may do it again and that well not be good for other people and that he may come closer to home too. This kind of reminds me of the girl who almost got raped but got away and raced into Edmonton mall for help. I am glad he is getting what he deserves. Nobody should be raped. Nobody should have to live through it. Never to be the same again. Nobody and I mean nobody should ever have to cry because of being raped. It is just wrong!Teacher Feedback:Rebecca,Thank you for choosing to write on this controversial topic. However, I think you missed the main point of this article. This particular man was sentences to 14, 443 years in prison. Also, please try to write your reaction to the case at hand.

More Chile Miners return home after hospital

http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2010/10/15/chile-miner-release.html?ref=rss

3 Chile miners were allowed to leave the hospital on Thursday in Copiapo. More may be leaving this weekend.
33 miners were trapped underground on August 5 until October. They were starting to get rescued Tuesday until Wednesday and are all out and healthy as can be.
The doctor said that they are as healthy as can be and are a bit surprised at how well they all worked together to stay alive. Did you know that the miners w ere only drinking a nail drop of water and had barely anything to eat before they were discovered? Its amazing what some people will do to stay alive.
I choose this topic because it amazes me on how people can survive the most tragic thing ever. How everyone can work together and how wonderful things can happen. Just imagine how the world would be if we all worked together on one thing. We can make lots of things happen just like that. If only people believed in doing it then we could get it done just like that. It’s amazing that none of the miners were hurt or sick. That they all were healthier than ever. They are going to be superstars even if they don't want that to happen because of the world watching them and how they all got rescued. When I watched them getting rescued I almost cried because of their families. I'm just glad that all the miners made it and that they are all healthily and happy to be out. This will be the biggest story in history I believe. I have new hero's and they don't even live in Canada. Chile is going to famous now because of the miners and how well people worked together on the rescue. I bet I could not survive being stuck underground for 2 months. I would die maybe. But you can never know. It depends who you are down there with right? I'm glad that they are all coming out of the hospital and that they are all healthy and happy to be back on land. Good for you guys. You deserve all of this.

Teacher Feedback: Great job Rebecca!

Ont., Maritimes hit by wild weather
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2010/12/14/canada-weather-wrap.html?ref=rss

Canada should use Unilateralism because the weather is in canada and no where else so why should the world have to worry about it? Canada should just worry about themselves alone and not get others to worry about them. This fits Canada's policy's for a safer Canada since the weather can kill lots of candians or injure them badly from the cold, warmth,or wetness. Ex: Winter blizzard,100 degree weather,floods/mudslides. If Canada decided to use my action then people will be ready for any kind of weather. They will be safe. They will be warm and less people may die from the weather. But if Canada did not go with my action then people would not ready for bad weather. They would not be warm or at least the poor people who live on the streets. Homeless people may die of extreme weather, extreme cold in winter, and extreme heat in the summer.

Reporters without borders

Reporters Without Borders has fought for press freedom on a daily basis since it was founded in 1985. Different reporters from all over the countries help out with the Reporters Without Borders. The countries are Canada, Spain, United States, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, United Kingdoms of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Sweden, Switzerland, and Zurich. They defend journalists and media assistants imprisoned or persecuted for doing their job and expose the mistreatment and torture of them in many countries.
They also fight against censorship and laws that undermine press freedom, give financial aid each year to 100 or so journalists or media outlets in difficulty (to pay for lawyers, medical care and equipment) as well to the families of imprisoned journalist’s, and work to improve the safety of journalists, especially those reporting in war zones. But before they start to make reports first they start by researching files for freedom violations and reporters in trouble, put pressure on the governments that are holding the reporters, investigate on the spot the working conditions of journalists, as well as cases of imprisoned or murdered journalists, and make publicity campaigns conducted with the help of public relations firms aim to inform people and try to give countries which do not respect this basic right a bad name in the eyes of international institutions. Reporters Without Borders is funded by the sale of its twice-annual albums of photographs as well as calendars, by auctions, small and large donations, member dues, public grants and partnerships with private firms.
